Washington:Mr. Marion Jackson (Jack) Newsome, 71, died Friday evening at Wills Memorial Hospital. Mr. Newsome was born in Wilkes County and had lived here all of his life.He was the son of the late George Burdette Newsome and Mary Virginia Taylor Newsome. He was a cattle farmer most of his life, and was a U.S. Army veteran.He was a member of the Raytown Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 8, 2010, at 6:00 pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Washington with Rev. Wade Palmer and Rev. Albert Huyck officiating.The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:30-6:00 at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fountain Campground Trustees (Ronnie Johnson, Don Reese,Henry Fluker,Henry Taylor, Freddie Brown, Jesse Moore, Wendell Amersen and Terry Reese), Luther Cofer, James Reid, Bobby West, Jr., and Bob West, Sr. Mr. Newsome is survived by his wife, Marilyn Thornton Newsome, of the home: one son, Jack (Mary Lois)Newsome, Jr., of Washington; one daughter, Lisa (Brian) Meister, of Harlem; one brother, G.B. Newsome, of Washington; two sisters, Jean N. Casey, of Cedartown, and Ramona N. King, of Fletcher, NC; and two grandsons, Graham and Kohen Memorial contributions should be made to the Fountain Campground, Ebenezer Baptist Church, or to Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington.
