Margie Shedd Thurmond

Mrs. Margie Shedd Thurmond, 95, of Greensboro Rd. in Washington, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville.

Mrs. Thurmond was born in Westminister, SC, and had lived in Wilkes County practically all of her life.  She was the daughter of the late Jim and Heppy Owens Shedd, and was the last of eleven brothers and sisters.  She had worked as a seamstress in the textile industry for a number of years, and was a member of the Harvest Time Christian Center in Washington.  She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Alex Thurmond, and by a granddaughter, Christi Chavis.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary T. Bowick, of Washington; eight grandchildren, Angela Dill (George), Marchelle Josey (Terry), Rena Smith (Doug), Bobby Thurmond (Bill), Jody Thurmond, James Thurmond (Debi), Stephen Thurmond (Amy), Brandi Chadwick; a large number of great grandchildren; and by one great great granddaughter, Autumn Grace Pulliam.

Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Harvest Time Christian Center with Rev. Terry Casper officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the service (1:00-2:00pm).

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harvest Time Christian Center.
