Margaret "Peggy" Brown

Margaret “Peggy” Brown, age 68, of Washington, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Warrenton Health & Rehab Center in Warrenton, Georgia.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Smyrna Community Church, 100 South Smyrna Church Road, Washington, Georgia 30673 on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 1:00 PM.  Reverend Preston Sanders will officiate the service.

Peggy was born on September 4, 1956 in Washington, GA to Adelle Garrett Dehil.  Peggy graduated from Medical College of Georgia with a Batchelor’s Degree in Nursing. Peggy was a member for many years at Smyrna Community Church and attended Washington First Methodist Church, before her passing. Musically gifted, Peggy played the piano and organ for many church services. Peggy directed the Smyrna Choir and the Little River Combined Choirs for special presentations and worked in prison ministry. In 2002 Peggy was recognized as the Outstanding Lay Person in the Augusta District.  Peggy was Lay Leader and Chairperson of the Worship Committee in 2001 at Smyrna Church.

Survivors include her son, Timothy Ray of Washington, GA; daughter, Margaret Anne Locklair and husband Joey of Washington, Georgia; brother, Dennis Dehil and wife Laurie of Washington, Georgia; aunt, Jackie Price of Harlem, Georgia; three grandchildren, Dominic Ray, Hunter Locklair and Madison Locklair; nephew, Zach Dehil, great niece, Olivia Dehil and great nephew Dennis “Duke” Dehil. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Freddy” Brown.
