Marcia Lynn Cook

March 12, 1966 — September 22, 2021

Surrounded by her loving family, Marcia Lynn Cook, age 55, peacefully went home to her Heavenly Father on September 22, 2021, from her family’s secondary residence in Washington, GA. Marcia was a 1984 graduate of Camp Laboratory High School in Cullowhee, N.C. She was a former secretary to Professional Southern Gospel Music’s Inspirations Quartet of Bryson City, N.C. and the daughter of its founder and manager, pianist and emcee, Martin Cook. Marcia was known for her special love for Southern Gospel music, its fans, singers, musicians, promoters and all others involved with it in any capacity. And thousands of them from across the nation knew and loved her. Marcia lived her life with her family in Cullowhee, deep in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. She was known for her perpetual smile and her pleasing personality. Marcia loved the simple things in life and especially working puzzle books and watching television game shows as well as riding with her brother, Michael, in his red farm truck to check on her family’s cattle and calves and to look for deer. Marcia also was an avid sports enthusiast and liked watching ballgames on television or in person when her schedule permitted. She was a huge fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs and professional baseball’s Atlanta Braves. Besides Martin Cook, Marcia is survived by her mother, Ora Blanche; brother, Michael of Washington; and brother, Myron (former Inspirations Quartet upright bass guitarist), his wife, Jennifer, and their two sons and Marcia’s nephews, Caleb and Josiah, and Myron’s and Jennifer’s two daughters and Marcia’s nieces, Hannah Grace and Abigail Elizabeth, all of Clinton, TN. The date and time of Marcia’s Celebration of Life service is pending and will be announced when finalized. As per her wishes, a graveside service will be held and she will be laid to rest in the Balsam Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Caney Fork Road in Cullowhee overlooking her family’s primary homeplace and the peaceful valley below, as well as the church of which she was a faithful member. The Cook Family desires prayers during this difficult time. Those who also wish to send a sympathy card, note or letter can do so by mailing it to: The Marcia Cook Family at 8037 Caney Fork Road, Cullowhee, N.C. 28723 or 2108 Tignall Road, Washington, GA, 30673. In Marcia’s memory, please consider contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
