Lucy S. Young

Mrs. Lucy Spence Young, 83, passed away at the Country Manor Personal Care Home in Tignall on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Mrs. Young was born in Calhoun Falls, SC, but lived most of her life in Tignall and Washington.She was the daughter of John and Mary Nan Jones Spence, and was the widow of Mr. Charles Young.She was a member of the local VFW Auxillary, and was a member of the Ficklen Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Youngis survived by two sons, John “Clary” Young, and wife Cheryl, of Washington, and Crayton Young, and wife Charmin, of Washington; one brother, Clay Spence (Doris), of Beech Island, SC; one sister, Flossie S. Rhodes, of Tignall; four grandchildren, Terah Y. Canon (Josh), Mathew Young (Alisha),Casey Y. Anderson (Steven), and Kimberly Y. Hopkins (Corey); and she was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Spence. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, July 15, 2018, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glen Kohlhagen officiating.Interment will follow at the Bethel UMC Cemetery.Visitation will be from 2-3 pm on Sunday at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Josh Canon, Mathew Young, Steven Anderson, Corey Hopkins, Gwen Roberson and Jonathan Hostings.
