Lucile E. Franklin Washington:Mrs. Lucile Eula Bonner Franklin, 84, died Thursday evening at Thomson Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Franklin was a native of Oglethorpe County, and lived in Wilkes County most of her life.She was a retired switchboard operator, and was the daughter of John Bonner and Eula Slay Bonner. Graveside services will be Sunday, April 5, 2009, at 2:00 at Rock United Methodist Church with Rev. Donnie Berry officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Clyde Whittington, David Cosby, Danny Cosby, Joe Burton, Donnie Crawford, and Tommy Land.Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Mathews and Crayton Young. She is survived by two sons, Jerry (Dianne) Compton, of Washington, and Jimmy Compton, of Washington: two granddaughters, Dede (Al) Broome, and Jacey (Mike) Coke; and one great granddaughter, Loganne Bradshaw. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8 at Hopkins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Relief Fund, c/o Bunnie Gunby, 2090 Thomson Rd., Washington, GA 30673.
