Loris R. Jacobs, Jr., known as Rudy, passed away suddenly on February 2, 2018 at the young age of 69. Rudy will be forever remembered by his wife Mary Thornton Jacobs of 47 years, and his children Jennifer Jacobs Bowcock and Jason Jacobs. He will also be lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren Alexis Bowcock, Lyndsey Bowcock and Rhett Jacobs; his sisters Patty Jacobs Anderson, Charlotte Jacobs Jackson and Lisa Jacobs Bastain; one brother, Randy Jacobs; and in-laws Jerry Thornton, Roy Thornton, Clark Bowcock, Wendy Jacobs, Ricky Jackson, Howard Anderson and Clay Bastain. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces Chad Smith, Richard Smith, Jeff Thornton, Russ Thornton, Nechelle Thornton Stamm, Ashley Thornton,Alicia Thornton Randolph, Noel Guzzardi, Autumn Guzzardi Horton, and Jacob Jackson. Rudy was born and raised in Macon, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia. Rudy was in the Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. He worked for Canon, USA for nearly 30 years, and retired with his wife Mary on Fripp Island in South Carolina. In Rudy’s free time, he enjoyed carpentry, helping his neighbors and saltwater fishing in which he earned his Captain’s license. He also volunteered on the Fripp Island search and rescue team. Rudy will be well known for his spirit, positive energy, humor and love and admiration for God, his wife, family and country. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Hopkins Funeral home on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life on Thursday, February 8 at Tignall Baptist Church at 1:00pm.Prior to the service, a meal will be served at noon for family and friends at the Family Life Center at the church. After services, all are invited to the graveside committal service at Resthaven Cemetery where Military Honors will be performed by the United States Air Force, honoring Rudy’s service to his country.
