Mr. Lewis Lee Cook, 85, of Berkshire Dr., entered into rest on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at McDuffie-University Hospital in Thomson. Mr. Cook was born in Union Point, Ga., and had lived in Washington since 1970.He was the son of the late James and Lilla Norris Cook.He was the husband of Joan Kennedy Echols Cook, and was first married to Ann Taylor Cook, who passed away in 2018.He was a retiredIndependent Life Insurance salesman, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.He was a Mason, was a Past Master, and a 50 Year Mason.He was a member of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #23. He was also a member of the Sardis Baptist Church, and previously been an active member at the Washington First United Methodist Church for a number of years. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Joan K. Cook, of Rayle; 2 daughters, Susan C. Whittingslow (John), of Atlantic Beach, Fla., and Sandra C. Standard, of Washington; one sister, Martha Johnson (James), of Thomson; three step-sons, Norman Echols, Jr. (Regina), of Jacksonville, Fla., Jason Echols, of Thomson, and Shane Echols (Carol), of Mineral, Va.; three grandchildren, Cathryn Eagle, Taylor C. Upson(Shawn), and Doug Standard; and two great grandchildren, Ayden Eagle and Reagan Eagle.Mr. Cook was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lee Cook, and by a grandson, Kyle Lewis Standard. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, where Mr. Cook will receive Masonic Rites via Lafayette Lodge #23.
