Mrs. Ann Drake Johnson, of Stone Mountain, Georgia passed away on April 25, 2011 at the age of 86.She was born on March 10, 1925, to the late William Calvin Drake and the late Minnie Lee Burchfield of Atlanta, Georgia.Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Lloyd Johnson, Jr. in 2006. She was the proud mother of two sons, Calvin Drake Johnson of Tucker, Georgia and William Lloyd Johnson, III of Washington, Georgia, as well as the grandmother of four grandchildren, Adam David Johnson, William Lloyd Johnson, IV, Patricia Ann Johnson and Robert Edward Johnson. One great granddaughter, Lily Anne Johnson. Mrs. Johnson attended Druid Hills School, later transferring to Washington Seminary in Atlanta where she graduated in 1943.She then attended Gulf Park College in Gulfport, Mississippi. She married her husband on October 8, 1948 at First Baptist Church in Atlanta.They moved to Aiken, South Carolina where they lived for 52 years.They were members of First Baptist Church.While in Aiken, she was a member of the Henry Middleton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, of the Diabetic Board and American Heart Board.For over forty years she served as a volunteer on the Hospital Board at the Aiken Regional Hospital.Ann enjoyed doing quilting, crocheting and embroidery for her home and family in her spare time. As a family they enjoyed camping with their sons as they grew up.After retirement, the Johnsons spent time in their RV travelling all over the United States and Canada.Later they took tours overseas to Europe, England, Australia and New Zealand, and cruises to Italy, Spain, Greece and France. In 2004, she and her husband moved from Aiken to Park Springs in Stone Mountain, Georgia where they lived until their deaths.They were members of Smoke Rise Baptist Church. Graveside services for Ann Johnson will be at Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, Georgia at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, April 28th, with Rev. Henry Chennault and Dr. Bob Browning officiating. All are invited for a meal at Washington First Baptist Church after the services. Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Wednesday.
