Lawrence Allen Thornton

Mr. Lawrence Allen Thornton, 82, of Wahington, died February 11, 2012 in Denard's Personal Care Home.A native of Washington, Georgia, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Nancy Garrett Thornton.He was a truck driver and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives, Bessie Edmunds Thornton and Johnnie Sue South Thornton.Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 15th at 11:00am in Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Albert Huyck officiating.Grandsons, Adam Thornton, Nicholas Thornton, Eric Thornton, Brett Thornton, Chuck Denard and Doug Denard will serve as pallbearers.Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Kenneth and Ann Thornton, and Mike and Lillie Thornton; one daughter and son in law, Sandra and Douglas Wheatley; one step daughter, Lynn Bentley, all of Washington; eight grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
