Lawrence "Larry" A. Fortson

Mr. Lawrence “Larry” A. Fortson, 62, of Tignall, passed awayFebruary 24 , 2019, at University Hospital in Augusta. Mr. Fortson was born in Wilkes County and had lived in this area all of his life.He was the son of Boyce H. and Susie Inez Stamey Fortson, and was the husband of Vivian Kincaid Fortson.He was a machinist and had worked at the Washington Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Auto Sales for 32 years, and at Paper Pak for several years.He was a member of the Fishing Creek Baptist Church, and was most recently active at The Sanctuary. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vivian K. Fortson, of Tignall; one brother, Lonnie Fortson (Margaret), of Tignall; two sisters, Barbara F. McAvoy (Barry) , and Joyce F. Sifre, both of Tignall; and by a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, March 1, 2019, at the Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Cates, Rev. Barry McAvoy, and Rev. Al George officiating.
