Kate Orr Messer

Mrs. Kate Orr Messer, age 56, of Roswell, Georgia, formerly of Rayle, Georgia, entered into rest on September 29, 2023 at Northside Forsythe Hospital, Cumming, Georgia. Mrs. Messer was born on February 18, 1967, in Washington, Georgia to the late Webster Thaxton and Josephine Marie Wilson Orr and was married to Clayton D. Messer.

Mrs. Messer graduated from Washington-Wilkes High School, after graduating she went on to received a B.A. Degree in Marketing at Georgia College in Milledgeville, and began working as an administrator in the healthcare profession. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church in Rayle, Georgia and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Huguenot Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Sons & Daughters of the Pilgrims, and Colonial Dames 17. She was also a locally recognized historian and family genealogist.

Mrs. Messer is survived by her husband, Clayton Messer, Roswell, GA; one sister, Marie O. Tyler (Steve), Snellville, GA; one brother, Keeve Orr (Andria Maruca-Orr), Dacula, GA; one niece, Melissa Tyler; two nephews, Jonathan Orr and Andrew Tyler; two grand-nephews, Logan Orr and Eli Orr; and one grand-niece, Lizzie Orr.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening, October 6, 2023, from 6-8p.m. at Hopkins Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Keeve Orr, Logan Orr, Andrew Tyler, Jonathan Orr and Noah Reyes.

The family asks that any contributions be made to the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to the Washington Historical Society.
