Karen W. Ford

Karen Jean Wardlaw Ford, 68, resident of Crawfordville, Ga, died Apr. 27, 2024. She was born on May 13, 1955, in Troy, SC, to the late Frank and Lorena Wardlaw. Karen was an alumna of Winthrop University, where she earned both her undergraduate and master's degrees in education. Throughout her career, which spanned over three decades, Karen served as an inspiration in the field of education. As a National Board Certified teacher, she touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on the hearts of her students. Even after retiring, Karen looked forward to school supply shopping each year. She enjoyed donating to numerous schools and organizations, a clear reflection of her dedication to guiding students toward a positive beginning.

Karen's life was a testament to the power of kindness and service. Her selfless devotion to helping others knew no bounds. Karen's greatest gift was her ability to forge deep and lasting connections with those around her. She was steadfast and true, always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, or a shoulder to lean on. As a teacher, her classroom was not just a place of learning but also a sanctuary of encouragement, where every student felt valued and supported. Her kind demeanor and endless generosity endeared her to all who had the privilege of crossing her path. Her unconditional love, empathy, and unwavering optimism brought joy and comfort to all who knew her. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her husband, Dan, her daughter, Suzanne, and her siblings: Elizabeth Lewis, Susan Heath, Frank (Becky) Wardlaw, Mary Jo (Dane) Colbert, and numerous nieces and nephews.
