June Smith Hicks

Mrs. June Smith Hicks, 82, of Columbia, SC, died November 7th, 2022. Born on June 13th, 1940 in Washington, Georgia, June was the daughter of the late Doris Smith and Reuben Marshall Smith Sr. She grew up in Union, South Carolina, where she graduated high school. She went on to graduate from the University of South Carolina in Columbia and after graduating began a career in banking with South Carolina National Bank in 1963. She would remain with the bank for almost forty years going through numerous mergers until she finally retired as a Vice President from Wells Fargo in 2001, to care for her ailing mother. She was a loyal member of First Baptist Church Columbia and loved all of her Sunday School Class members. June loved University of South Carolina athletics and attended many games over the years.

She was predeceased by her parents and her only brother, Reuben Marshall Smith Jr. She will always be remembered for her positive attitude and her generosity towards everyone. She is survived by her nephews, Shea Smith (Sharon), Kyle Smith, Casey Smith (Angeli), a sister in law, Sallye Smith, a great niece, Breanna Grasty (Brandon), and great nephews, Braxon Smith and Mason Smith.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 18th at First Baptist Church Columbia, with visitation at 10:00 am and the service at 11:00 am. A graveside service will be held the same day at 4:00 pm at Resthaven Cemetery in Washington, Georgia, where she will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Columbia.
