Joyce Smith

Joyce Smith, age 69, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

Joyce was born in Wilkes County to the late Jim Wesley Buff and Maggie Sherrer Buff.  She attended Carter’s Grove Baptist Church and spent many years as a seamstress with B&B Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Clayton Smith.

She was a giving person who found her greatest joy in her family, especially her grandson.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 56 years, David Smith; daughter, Rhonda Ann Standard (Daniel Kane); grandson, Aden Jaxon Standard; brother and sisters, Ann Price (James), Charlene Cobb (Rodney), and JW Buff (Linda); goddaughter, Nikki (Newsome) McRee; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 8, 2024 in the chapel of Hopkins Funeral Home with interment to follow in Carter's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Joyce's nephew, Travis Newsome will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
