Joseph Edward Griffin

Mr. Joseph Edward Griffin, 80, of Washington, died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Kindred Hospice in Athens. Mr. Griffin was born in Colquitt, GA, and was the son of Percy and Minnie Lee Richardson Griffin. He was the husband of Jewell Nunn Griffin, and they had been married for 52 years.He lived in Washington since 1975, was a retired truck driver, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was also a member of the Sandy Cross Baptist Church. Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Jewell N. Griffin, of Washington; two sons, Dewayne Griffin, of Columbus, and Joey Griffin, of Washington; two daughters, Sheila G. Zimmer (Gary), of LaGrange, and Joyce G. Gruschow (Tom), of Peachtree City; one brother, Buren Griffin, of Colquitt; nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the Sandy Cross Baptist Church.Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10:00am until the time of the service at Sandy Cross Baptist Church.Burial will follow at the Washington-Wilkes Memorial Gardens. The family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be made to the Sandy Cross Baptist Church. Hopkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
