Mr. Jonathan Norman “Johnny” Mansfield, 73, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.

Born on October 11, 1950 in Washington, GA, he was the son of the late Norman “Connie” Mansfield and Ruth Poss Mansfield. Mr. Mansfield was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Washington-Wilkes High School. Johnny graduated from Brenau University with a degree in Business Administration and enjoyed a long banking career with C & S Bank of Hartwell, Bank of Hartwell, and the Northeast Georgia Bank of Lavonia. He was also a past president of both the Hartwell Lions Club and Hartwell Optimist Club, and he was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell where he served as a deacon, usher, and greeter.

Johnny will be remembered most for his quick smile, his sense of humor, and his outgoing personality, which allowed him to converse with people from all walks of life. He was an avid golfer and instilled in his sons the love of the game.

Survivors include his wife: Julia Temple Mansfield; two sons: Eric Mansfield (Jennifer) of Newnan, GA, and Jared “Fred” Mansfield of Hartwell; his grandchildren: Cooper, Madelyn, and Brooklyn Mansfield; Emma Julia and Emerson Mansfield; and his brother: Jerry Mansfield of Martinez, GA.

The family expresses grateful appreciation to Brookdale Assisted Living and Hart Care Center for their loving care and support.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Johnny Mansfield will be held Friday, January 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hartwell with Dr. Stuart Lang and Rev. Eric Mansfield officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, 81 E. Howell St, Hartwell, GA 30643.
