John Henry Reed

Mr. John Henry Reed, 89, of Washington, entered into rest on Tuesday morning, October 11, 2022, at Quiet Oaks Health Care Center in Crawford.

Mr. Reed was born in Lincolnton, Ga., and had lived in Washington for most of his life.  He was the son of the late Henry and Elsie Spires Reed, and he was the widower of Mary Frances Reed, who passed away on October 1, 2022.  They had been married for 64 years.  He had worked for Mohawk Industries for a number of years, and was a member of the Washington Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by one son, Kelly Reed, of Roswell; and by a sister, Carolyn R. Fletcher (George), of Lincolnton.  He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters,  Grady Reed, Herbert Reed, S. T. Reed, Charles Reed, Katherine R. Chancey, and Shirley R. Hancock.

Funeral services will be 11:00 Monday morning, October 17, 2022, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ficklen Guin officiating.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at Hopkins Funeral Home (10-11am).

The family would like to thank Mr. Reed’s caregivers, Mary Bowick, Annie Neely and Freddy Mae Campbell, and the wonderful staff of Quiet Oaks Health Care Center for the loving care that they administered to Mr. Reed.
