Mr. John Albert Beggs, 90, died Wednesday evening, November 26, 2008, at Wills Memorial Hospital in Washington. Mr. Beggs was born in Hart County, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1945.He was the widower of Helen Moore Beggs, and was the son of the late John A. Beggs and Lena Brown Beggs.He retired from the Pet Milk Co. and Mid-America Dairyman’s, Inc.He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and previously owned Ye Old Lamplighter Antiques in Washington. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 30, 2008, at 2:00 at Hopkins Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Cook and Rev. Glen Kohlhagan officiating.Burial will follow at the Vic Moore Family Cemetery in McDuffie County. Mr. Beggs is survived by one daughter, Brenda Beggs Youmans and husband Andy, of Savannah; one grandson, Andy Youmans III, of Savannah; one sister, Francis Tune, of Florence, AL.He was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Beggs.
