Joanne Slaton

JoAnne Slaton Mrs. JoAnne Wooten Slaton, 60, of Tignall, died January 31, 2009 in Landmark Hospital in Athens.She was a native of Clayton, Georgia but had lived in Wilkes County for forty two years.Mrs. Slaton was the daughter of the late Marvin and Olean Welch Wooten, a member of Independence UMC and a retired shoe store manager. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 2, 2009 at 3:00pm in Independence UMC Cemetery in Tignall with Rev. Avery Lawrence officiating.Clem Slaton, Johnny Truitt, Bobby Welch, Billy Wayne Wooten, Jimmy Jones and Brandon Webb will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include her husband, Larry Slaton; son, Dwayne Slaton, Tignall; grandchildren, Corie and Trenton Slaton, both reared in the home and grandchildren, Cheyenne and DeAnna Slaton, Ft. Bragg, NC; sister, Janie Jones, Clayton and brother, Billy Wooten, Clayton. The family will receive friends at the home on Monday from 1:00 – 2:30pm Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Hopkins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
