Jimmy Franklin Vandiver, a cherished resident of Crawfordville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 23rd, 2024, at the age of 63. Born in Austell, Georgia, on March 30, 1961, Jimmy was the beloved son of the late Alvin Vandiver and Lois Vandiver.
Jimmy attended Washington Wilkes High School. After high school he led a fulfilling and industrious life, dedicating his time to a variety of vocations that reflected his hard work and versatility. He spent part of his career working diligently at the water plants in Rutledge, GA, and Monroe, GA. His commitment to honest labor continued at a local feed store where he engaged with his community, and most recently, he embraced the fulfilling craft of carpentry. Known for his skillful hands and precise workmanship, he took great pride in building, installing, and repairing structures and frameworks, contributing significantly to all he worked on.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jimmy was a wonderful friend, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of wisdom. His warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though deeply saddened by his departure, we take comfort in the simple joys he cherished. Jimmy had a loving bond with his beloved dog, Tater, who was his faithful companion, bringing him immense joy and companionship.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted family, including his brothers, Paul Vandiver of Union Point, GA, and Loy Vandiver and his wife Joyce of Maryville, TN; his sister, Judy Gibson and her husband Stephen of Washington, GA; and his beloved daughter, Terri Goodman of Rutledge, GA. He also leaves behind several cherished grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews who will remember him with fondness and admiration.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lois Vandiver, as well as his brothers, Johnny King, Pat Vandiver, and Sam Vandiver, and his sister, Martha Vandiver.
No services are planned at this time. His family asks that those who remember him reflect on the moments shared and the impact he had on their lives.
In honoring his memory, let us remember Jimmy as a devoted son, an industrious worker, and a loyal friend who touched the lives of many with his quiet strength and unwavering dedication. May he rest in peace.
