Jimmy Bonner Compton

Jimmy Bonner Compton, 70, of Lexington Rd. In Rayle, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the Echols Personal Care Home in Rayle. Mr. Compton was born in Atlanta, and had lived in Wilkes County for most of his life. He was the son of the late Joe and Lucille Bonner Compton, and had worked for the State of Georgia Department of Transportation for a number of years as an equipment operator.Jimmy was a graduate of the Washington-Wilkes High School, and was a member of the Mallorysville Baptist Church. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Compton (Dianne), of Washington; two nieces, Dede C. Broome (Al), of Tignall, and Jacey C. Newsome (Jason), of Thomson; one great niece, Loganne Bradshaw, of Elberton; and he had 4 half sisters. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating.Interment will follow at the Rock United Methodist Church in Rayle.The family will receive friends at Hopkins Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service (11:00-12:00). Memorial contributions may be made to the Sardis Baptist Church.
