Jene Ray Moore

Mr. Jene Ray Moore, Sr., 83, of Johnson Rd., Crawfordville, entered into rest on Thursday morning, July 15, 2021, at his home. Mr. Moore was born in Washington, and had lived in this community since October of 1956.He was the son of the late Edward and Roma Gunn Moore, and was the husband of Joyce Johnson Moore.He was a beef cattle farmer and had worked as a mechanic in the trucking industry,He joined the U.S. Army when he was 17(in 1955), served active duty for six years, and then served in the National Guard, serving continually every year until he was 61 years old (in 1999).He was a member of the Phillips Mill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and a Trustee. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Johnson Moore, of Crawfordville; one daughter, Tena Moore, of Gainesville; two sons, Ray Moore and wife Tammy, of Crawfordville, and Ben Moore, and wife Monica, of Winder; five brothers, Jimmy Moore (Jean), Plum Branch, S.C., Jerry Moore (Carol), of McDonough, Larry Moore (Margie), of Athens, Marvin Moore (Bobbie), of Sharon, and Mahlon Moore (Gayle), Greenville, S.C.; and one sister, Delores McCabe, of Cumming; one sister-in-law, Connie Moore, of Washington; eleven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:30pm on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the Phillips Mill Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Woods officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by a U. S. Army Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30pm until 2:20pm at Phillips Mill Baptist Church. Civilian pallbearers serving at the church will be Lt. Col. Bryan Fanning, William Thomas, Jerry Wyatt, Tracy Moore, Colby Moore, Specialist Peter Helmreich, and Braylen Moore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillips Mill Baptist Church, 5479 Greensboro Rd., Washington, GA30673.
