Ms. Janice Marie Smith Leavenworth, 50, of Washington, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at her home. Janice was born in Washington, and was the daughter of Mildred R. Peeler and of the late Gary Smith. She was the widow of Earl Leavenworth, had worked in the Healthcare field earlier in her life, and was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Jessica Dooley (Jeremy), of Washington; one son, Dustin Turner, of Swainsboro; one granddaughter, Layla Dooley, Washington;her mother, Mildred R. Peeler and the late Paul R. Peeler, of Washington; her step mother, Ann T. Smith, and the late Gary Smith, of Warrenton;one sister, Shela S. Lawson, Washington; one step sister, Natalie Coleman, of Lawrenceville; three step brothers, Paul R. (Buddy) Peeler, Jr. (Michele), of Stone Mountain, Jeff Hinton (Donna), and Jay Hinton (Christie), both of Sandersville; one brother-in-law, Jay Leavenworth (Donna), of NC;two sisters-in-law, Lois L. Hollis (Jim), of MI, and Carol L. Styrk (Gary), of St. Louis, MO; mother-in-law, Nettie Grace Leavenworth; six nephews, Will Lawson, Clay Lawson, Tucker Peeler, Ross Coleman, Liam Coleman, and Kyle Hinton; and four nieces Samantha Peeler, Brooke Hinton, Jacey Hinton, and Anna Hinton. A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Washington First Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Madden officiating.The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church for one hour prior to the service (from 3:00 until the time of the service).
