James Ernest Stone

Mr. James “Ernie” Stone, Sr. died Sunday, December 4, 2016, at his home. Mr. Stone was born in Dothan, AL, and was the son of the late Henry and Dollie Berry Stone.He had worked at Berry Plastics and had lived in this community for 32 years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Stone. Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Margie Meek Stone, of Washington; one daughter, Debra S. Wall (Bobby), of Washington; one son James E. Stone, Jr., (Sonya), Washington; two sisters, Bertha S. Pelham, (Gene), of Jefferson, and Mary S. Jordan, of Winder; two brothers, Mack Stone, Washington, and Sammy Stone, Augusta; five granddaughters, Brandy Dozier, Britney Peppers, Shelby Wall, Hunter Wall, and Kayla Stone;three great grandchildren, Briana and Mason Dozier, and Braxton Gowan. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Newsome officiating.Interment will follow in the Washington-Wilkes Memorial Garden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Forrest Spence, Bobby McAvoy, Pete Grimaud, John Jones, Bennie Storey, and Lonnie Warren. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at Hopkins Funeral Home.
