Mr. James Edward Echols, 86, of Tignall, passed away February 11, 2014 at his home.A native of Tignall, he was the son of the late James Albert and Estelle Walton Echols. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Martin Echols.Mr. Echols was retired from Pet Milk after forty-five years.He was a member of Tabor Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, Song Leader and a Sunday School Teacher for over fifty years.He served his country in the U. S. Army. Funeral services will be Sunday, February 16th at 3:00pm in Tabor Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Reviere officiating.Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Rebecca Scott Echols; three sons and their wives, Jimmy and Linda Echols, of Shelby, NC, Steve and Marie Echols, of Tignall and Glen and Jane Echols, of Tignall; one daughter and her husband, Becky and Jerome Wilson, of Tignall; twelve grandchildren, Brandon Echols, Laura Wellmon, Blain Echols, Merritt McLaughlin, Taylor S. Echols, Graham Echols, Jordan Echols, Jesse Echols, Vanessa Patrick, Kyle Wilson, Clete Wilson and Drew Wilson; four great grandchildren.
