James A Davis Sr

Mr. James Alvin Davis, Sr., 76, of Tignall Rd., died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Wills Memorial Hospital. Mr. Davis was born in Jackson County and had lived in Washington for most of his life.He was the son of the late Paul and Louise Cofield Davis, husband of Sarah Burleson Davis, and proprietor of Davis Welding.He served in the National Guard and was a member of the Washington Chapel.He was preceded in death by one daughter, Olivia Ann Davis. Graveside services will be Sunday, May 24, 2009, at 3:00 at Resthaven Cemetery with Peter Hoffman officiating. Pallbearers will be Trey Anderson, Scotty Atkins, Joe Barwick, Shane Yancey, Bruce Wheatley, and Greg Wheatley. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Sarah B. Davis, of the home; three sons, James (Lillie) Davis, Jr. and Mike (Pam) Davis,both of Washington, and Dale (Ginger) Boyer, of Greenwood, SC; two daughters, Tracy (Brett) McAvoy, Washington, and Dawn (Joe) Barwick, of Pensacola, FL; one brother, Jack (Martha) Davis, Washington, and one sister, Paulette (Henry) Cagle, of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7-9 at Hopkins Funeral Home.
