James Addison Baston,

Mr. James Addison Baston, Jr., 78, passed away January 22, 2021 at Doctors Hospital of Augusta. He was born August 3, 1942 in Washington, Georgia to the late James Addison Baston and Gwendolyn Jones Baston, and was the widower of June Denard Baston.Mr. Baston graduated from Washington Wilkes High School and was the owner/operator of Baston Ready Mix Concrete Company for many years until his retirement.He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Washington.Mr. Baston was a wonderful father and grandfather who dearly loved his family. He was preceded in death by a brother Irving Baston. Survivors include one daughter, MeLisa B. Clay (Greg), of Macon: one son, James A. Baston III ( Heather), of Washington; one sister, Jacquelyn Starks (Johnny) of Simpsonville, SC; four grandchildren, Ashley C. Smith (Tanner), Abby C. Cohen (Josh), Addison Baston and Avery Baston; one great grandchild, Campbell Smith. Due to Covid-19 concerns, a private graveside memorial service will be held January 24, 2021 with the Rev. Brian George officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Washington First United Methodist Church, 102 W.
