Mr. Jack Duane White, 67, of Thomson Rd., Washington, Ga., entered into Heaven on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at his residence. Mr. White was born on July 15, 1952, to Estil “Ed” and Glenda Edmunds White, who preceded him in death. He spent the majority of his life in Wilkes County, Georgia; however, during his childhood, he also lived in Stuttgart, Germany, Richlands, Virginia, and McDuffie County, Georgia.Having been consistently employed since he was a teenager, Mr. White was known for his strong work ethic. He worked for over 30 years at Clark-Schwebel (Hexcel), in Washington, serving in a supervisory position for many years. After Hexcel announced its closing, he quickly found work as a maintenance manager at Hollander Sleep Products in Tignall--then in Thomson-recently retiring from its employ. Mr. White was a man of many talents. He loved working with his hands. He grew a beautiful garden for many years. He also loved restoring classic cars, a pet project he shared with his father and his brother. He was also a craftsman, assisting his wife Debbie with many of her projects. He was a fabulous cook.Essentially, if Mr. White took an interest in something, he learned how to do it well. Mr. White was a man of few words; however, he made an impact on all who knew him.“Humble, generous, kind, a good man, selfless, precious, strong, faithful, and loyal” are just a few of the traits people have used to describe his character. All those descriptions are true; however, his favorite words to be called were husband, Daddy, and Papa.Mr. White leaves behind family and friends who are heartbroken, but not defeated, because they know that even though Mr. White was a generous, kind “good man,” those things did not assure his salvation. In John 11:25 and 26 (NKJV), Jesus, as He’s comforting Martha after the death of her brother Lazarus (before He raises him from the dead), says to Martha, “ I am the resurrection and the life.He who believes in Me will live, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.Do you believe this?”Mr. White believed this.He put his trust in Jesus, God’s Son, as his saviour, believing that God sent Jesus to die for his sins, and he turned over his life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Because of this, Mr. White’s family knows that they will see this precious man again in Heaven. Mr. White is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 46 years, Deborah “Debbie” Long White; daughters, Erin White of Thomson, Ga., and Megan (Mick) Williamson of Graniteville, S.C.; granddaughters Emma Kate and Sara Grace Williamson, of Graniteville, S.C.; brother Doug (Jane) White of Thomson, Ga.; sisters Suzanne (Dave) Beemer of Gurnee, Ill., and Celia (Albert) White, of Athens, Ga.; and three dogs that love him dearly: Sadie, Belle, and Ava (his grandpup). Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 11:00 AM at the Tignall Baptist Church with Rev. Chris King officiating.Interment will follow at the Tignall Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the the Tignall Baptist Church for one hour prior to the service.
