Washington:Mr. John Willis (J. W.) Williamson, 90, of Newtown Rd., died Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Mr. Williamson was born in Orlando, FL, and had lived in Wilkes County most of his life.He was the husband of the late Lucy Thornton Williamson, and was the son of the late John W. and Eula Ray Williamson.He was a retired Wilkes CountyProbate Judge, and served in that capacity for 32 years.He was an Army veteran of WW II, was a former member of the Washington Kiwanis Club, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington. Graveside services will be at 2:00 Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Albert Huyck officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8 pm at Hopkins Funeral Home. Mr. Williamson is survived by two daughters, Lorene (Lawrence) Mayo, of Norwood, GA, and Kay (Louis) Finney, of Washington; one son, Wayne (Sharon) Williamson, of Washington; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
