Ms. Inez Bennett Strother Vinson, 103, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at the Nancy Hart Nursing Center in Elberton. Ms. Vinson was born in Washington and had lived here most of her life.She was the daughter of the late Henry Strother and Virginia Elizabeth Bennett Strother, and was the widow of Mr. Claude T. Vinson.She was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church, where she was also the oldest member. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia Vinson Pitts, and husband John Mell, of Elberton; six grandchildren, Karen Pate West, Keith Pate, Tony M. Pitts, Tiffany Pitts Haltom, Larry Vinson, and Tracie Vinson Smith; eleven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; and one sister, Henry Strother Brown Sayer (Emory), of Evans.She was also preceded in death by three sons, Clarence, Clyde, and Lawrence Vinson, and by a daughter, Sherrill Vinson Pate Jones. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, June 1, 2018, at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Madden officiating.Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.Visitation will be Friday morning from 10:00am until the time of the service. Pallbearers will be Keith Pate, Cohen Pate, Larry Vinson, David Vinson, Tony Pitts, and Mark Haltom.
