Mr. Hugh Randall Denard, 85, of Washington, died January 3, 2019.A native of Wilkes County, he was the son of the late Willie Jep and Eunice Matthews Denard.Mr. Denard was a butcher by trade and owner of Washington Food Market.He was a member of the Danburg Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth, a granddaughter, Macy Denard, a son-in-law, Alan Poss, and by his great grandson, Samuel Bridges. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30pm Sunday afternoon at Hopkins Funeral Home.Graveside services will be Sunday, January 6, 2019, at 3:00pm in Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Ficklen Guin officiating.Grandsons Gregory Denard, Len Poss, Will Bentley, Ben Bentley, Eli Denard, Owen Denard, Jonathan Fanning, and Randall Fanning will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Judy Denard, Washington, Glenn and Jennifer Denard, Lavonia, and John and Jen Denard, Naples, Fl; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Poss, Washington, Angie and Jack Bentley, Tignall, and Julie and Grant Fanning, Suwanee; 14 grandchildren, Gregory (Ashley) Denard, Bonnie (Jason) Hunnicutt, Lauren (David) Bridges, Heather Denard, Adrienne Denard, Eli Denard, Owen Denard, and Emma Grace Denard, Amanda (Alan) Battles, Len (Susan) Poss, Will (Kimberley) Bentley, Ben (Casie Jo) Bentley, Jonathan and Randall Fanning. And 16 great grandchildren, Aiden, Lucy, and Caroline Bridges, Henry, Annabelle and Bennett Hunnicutt, Ruth and Boyd Chafin, Jake Poss, Will and Kathryn Battles, J.W., Ellie Day and Gabe Bentley, Wyatt and Elizabeth Ellyn Bentley; one brother, Larry Denard, and twosisters, Betty Stevens, and Nancy (Kerry) McAvoy.
