Mr. Henry Ray Anderson, 69, of Washington, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 in Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.Henry spent his early youth in Decatur, Georgia attending school at Medlock Elementary, Druid Hills High School and graduating from Central Gwinnett High School when his parents and sister moved to Lilburn, Georgia.He graduated from the University of Georgia and retired in 1997 from the U.S. Navy where he served in Viet Nam and Gulf Wars and Desert Storm.He retired in 2012 as a member of Wilkes County Board of Registrars.Henry is a member of Washington Lions Club, NRA Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer, American Legion and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.He was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church and was an organ donor.Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Willard A. Anderson and Charlotte M. Hornbaker Anderson and sister, Helga Anderson Rogers. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 3:00pm in Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Cates and Rev. Otis Strong officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Mike Guin, Andrew Jackson, Bill Maxwell, Barry McAvoy, Kelvin Williams and Tracy Wynn will serve as pallbearers and the Church Deacons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Debbie Young Anderson, of Washington; Mother-in-law, Gladys Russell Reese, Washington; Sister-in-law, Carol Blalock, Decatur; Brother-in-law, Joseph Young, Loganville; Niece, Cathy Chavey and husband, Chris, of Sumter, SC; Nephews, James Kelly Young, Washington and James H. Rogers, Jr. and wife, Kelly, of Flowery Branch, GA; great nephew, Eric Rogers, Flowery Branch; great nieces, Micah and Octavis Young, Washington; cousin, Pam Swann, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will have a time of visitation in the church Sunday beginning at 2:00pm until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to T J and Friends Cancer Foundation, Christian Service Organization of Fishing Creek Baptist Church, Augusta Wounded Warrior Project or any of the Lions Club programs.
