Harrison Leemon Stewart

Mr. Harrison Leemon Stewart, 89, of Washington, passed away Sunday morning, July 26, 2020, at the Pruitt Health Care Facility in Washington. Mr. Stewart was born in Homer, Ga., and had lived in Wilkes County since 1968.He was the son of the late Harrison Stewart and Erma Wheelis Stewart, and was the widower of Mary Lou Harrison Stewart.He was a foreman for the Georgia Department of Transportation, and had stints working with both the County and the City.He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Stewart is survived by two sons, Tim Stewart, and wife Gail, of Rayle, and Dicky Stewart, and wife Susie, of N. Augusta; two daughters, Dianne S. Jones, and husband Ed, of Aiken, SC, and Patty S. Bailey, and husband Chris, of Washington; one brother, Benny Stewart, of Wadena, MN; six sisters, Annie Mullins, Myrt Peters, Ruby Harrison, Pauline Banks, Eva Payne, and Adell Peters; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11:00am Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Resthaven Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Chapman officiating.A United States Army Funeral Honors team will honor him for his service at the graveside with the ceremonial playing of taps and a flag folding presentation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wills Memorial Hospital Foundation. Hopkins Funeral Home is in charge.
