Grace Speer Mrs. Grace Newsome Speer passed away peacefully at her home in Tampa, FL on April 28, 2009.Graveside services will be at 2:00pm on Friday, May 15, 2009 at Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, GA.A memorial service will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Washington, GA. Mrs. Speer was born on January 12, 1917 in Wilkes County, Ga.She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander Stephens Newsome and Ada Combs Newsome and her husband, Emmett Lawson Speer.She was also predeceased by her sisters, S. Cornelia Newsome, Martha N. Burdette, Edythe N. Garrett, all of Washington, GA and Sara N. Dennis of Augusta, GA.She is survived by her niece Anne D. Trotter of Augusta, Ga and her nephew, Julian A. Garrett of Clarksville, Ga. A resident of Tampa, FL since 1949, Mrs. Speer had worked for 37 years as an office manager for a CPA firm in Tampa.She was an active resident of John Knox Village in Tampa at the time of her death. Mrs. Speer was a member of First United Methodist Church, Washington, GA and associate member at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Washington, GA. and Temple Terrace United Methodist Church in Tampa, FL. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to First UMC, 100 W.
