Grace Dunaway Washington: Miss Grace Lillian Dunaway, 82, died November 30, 2009 at home.She was a native of Wilkes County, the daughter of the late Raymond Alexander and Martha Turpin Dunaway. Besides her parents, Miss Dunaway is preceded in death by sisters, Effie D. Teasley and Mamie D. Durham.Miss Dunaway, mentally handicapped from a childhood illness, has been lovingly care for by her brother, Alex Dunaway, for the past 33 years.Alex, who is 19 years younger than his sister, has devoted his life to her since their mother died in 1976.Other survivors include sisters, Louise D. Burt, Bonnie D. Brown (Troy), Flora Ann D. McGill (Sam), brothers, Bill Dunaway, Tom Dunaway (Regina), and Dozens of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 1st at 3pm in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Broom and Rev. Calvin Ward officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Nephews, Tim Brown, Sam C. McGill, Jr., Peyton McGill, Dan Durham, Richard Swann and Wade Dunaway will serve as pallbearers.Nieces, Lavenia B. Henderson, Carol Burt, Beverly Teasley, Malinda T. Erwin, Connie D. Gresham, Lou D. Gresham, Debbie B. Lindsey, Dawn D. Cosby, and Nancy S. Lewis will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the services.
