George Myers

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of George Allen Myers, a beloved member of the Washington, Georgia community. George peacefully departed this life on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the age of 66. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.

Born on Monday, July 21, 1958, to the late George Leroy Myers and Margaret Jeanette Thornton Myers. George spent his lifetime in Washington, GA, where he was a cherished friend, dedicated worker, and enthusiastic hobbyist. A proud graduate of the Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School Class of 1976, George was known for his kindness, and willingness to lend a helping hand. George was a man of faith, attending Beaverdam Baptist Church, where he found spiritual solace throughout his life.

George enjoyed a fulfilling career at the Wilkes County Road Department, where he contributed significantly to the community’s infrastructure over many loyal years of service. Outside of work, George had a passion for fishing and spent many joyful hours tinkering with lawn mowers, a hobby that brought him both relaxation and gratification.

George's legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his son Travis Myers and wife Meagan, as well as his cherished grandson, Chase Allen Myers. George's memory will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

A service to celebrate George's life will be held at the Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, allowing friends and family to gather and pay their respects.
