George Richard King, Jr.

George Richard King, Jr., 85, of Washington, Georgia was born on May 6, 1938, in Georgetown, Maryland, and passed away on April 3, 2024 at Heardmont Nursing Home in Elberton, Georgia. He was the beloved son of the late George Richard King, Sr. and Margaret Louise Mulligan King.

Throughout his life, George worked as an Engineer in Construction, dedicating himself to his profession and making significant contributions to the industry. George will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family. He was a devoted partner, father, and grandfather who always put the needs of his loved ones above his own. George was a member of New Life Ministry.

George is survived by his devoted partner, Patsy Ann Wheeler King, with whom he shared many cherished memories and experiences. Together, they raised two loving children: Dawn Williamson, who is married to David, and Sherry Overby, who is married to Rodney. George was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers; Donnie King and wife Sharon, and Francis King of Maryland. He cherished each one of them dearly.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Hopkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Terry Casper and Reverend Arthur Key officiating. Interment will follow at Washington Wilkes Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at Hopkins Funeral Home on Saturday, April 6, from 6pm-8pm.
