Mr. George Teasley “G. T.” Hall, Jr., 92, formerly of Metasville, entered into rest on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Southern Manor Personal Care Home.
G.T. was born in Metasville to the late George Teasley Hall, Sr. and Florence Motes Hall. He was the widower of Betty Saggus Hall, who he married on February 2, 1957. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, John L. Hall, and two sisters, Minnie Bell Hunt and Lucille Lloyd.
After he and Betty married, they moved to Atlanta where G.T. went to work with Georgia Power as a lineman. Upon moving back to Wilkes County, he worked at Burdette-Harris, Inc. as a parts manager; and he later became a truck driver with H & H Logging Company until retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed driving a dump truck for Wilkes County until his health began to decline.
G. T. loved working with his hands and enjoyed collecting (and tinkering on) Snapper mowers. He and Betty found great enjoyment in gospel music and they loved to travel the state to attend “singings.” G.T. had a natural gift for music- he learned to play piano by ear, and loved to pick at his father’s banjo. He was a Mason and a member of La Fayette Lodge #23 in Washington, and was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
G.T. is survived by his two daughters, Terry H. Cooper, and husband Kyle, of Auburn, Georgia, and Janet H. Pharr, and husband Darren, of Washington; two brothers, Lewis Hall, and wife Inez, and Curtis Hall, and wife Mary Kay, all of Washington; one sister, Frances H. Lloyd, of Jackson; three grandsons, Michael Pharr, Chandler Pharr, and Alex Pharr; and one great granddaughter, Cora Pharr.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 27, 2024 in Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Brian George will officiate and Masonic Rites will be performed by LaFayette Lodge # 23. Pallbearers will be Darren Pharr, Kyle Cooper,Michael Pharr, Chandler Pharr, Alex Pharr, and Wade Hall.
