George A. Dyson. Mr. George Asa Dyson, 76, of the Metasville Rd., died Wednesday evening, December 31, 2014, at the Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Dyson was born in Washington, GA, and had lived here all of his life.He was the son of the late Oliver S. and Beatrice Brown Dyson.His father, Oliver S. Dyson, started Wilkes Telephone and Electric Co., and George has been President of the company since 1987.He was an avid fisherman and loved most outdoor sporting activities.He was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 11:00 Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Albert Huyck officiating.Active pallbearers will be Jacob Dyson, Leonard L. Evans III, Billy Caddell, Donald Wheatley, Sammy Dawkins, and Joe Batrous.Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Frank Graves, Pete Kopecky, John Webster, Dr. Carlton Hearn, Eddie Drinkard, Martin Burgess, and Cicero Lucas. Mr. Dyson is survived by his wife, April Denard Dyson, of the home;two sons, George A. Dyson, Jr. ,and wife Ann, of Washington,and Jason Dyson, and wife Mary Katherine, of Washington; two daughters, Ali Dyson Dudley, and husband Al, of Athens, and Mary Reagan Dyson, of the home; four grandchildren, Amanda Dyson Robb, Jacob Dyson, Maci Dyson, and Lacey Dyson; and two great grandchildren, Izabella Robb and Phillip Robb. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wills Memorial Hospital, 120 Gordon St., Washington, GA30673, or to the Washington First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 603, Washington, GA 30673.
