George Casey

Mr. George Halford Casey, 95, of Centerville Rd. in Rayle, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020, at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta. Mr. Casey was born in Augusta to Benjamin Tillman Casey and Julia Holmes Casey, and was the widower of Mozelle Chafin Casey.Mr. Casey had worked a number of years in the dairy industry-ice cream specifically.He had been a plant manager for Bordens, Atlanta Dairies, and the Aristocrat Ice Cream Company.He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church in Rayle.He was also an avid gardener, and was well known for his summer vegetable gardens. He is survived by three sons, Wayne Casey, and wife Deborah, of Loganville, Douglas Casey, and wife Robbin, of Grayson, and Steve Casey, of Rayle; one sister, Kathleen C. Wheeler, of N.Augusta, S.C.; four grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Private graveside memorial services (family and invitees) will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at the Washington-Wilkes Memorial Garden in Washington.
