Gayle Sherron Roberson

Mr. Gayle Sherron Roberson, 86, of Lincolnton Rd. in Washington, entered into rest Friday, April 16, 2021, at Wills Memorial Hospital. Mr. Roberson was born in Leicester, N.C., and had lived in this community since about 1952. He was the son of the late Lathan and Lillie Hampton Roberson, and was the husband of Willie McAvoy Roberson. He was a self employed truck driver and had also driven a truck for the Pet Milk Co. He was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Willie M. Roberson, of Washington; two sons, Tommy Roberson, and wife Rhonda, and Kevin Roberson, both of Washington; one brother, Joe Roberson, of Washington; four grandchildren, Kayley Roberson, Lathan Roberson and fiancee Sarah Gayle Hammond, Toni R. Callaway, and husband Tom, and Scotty Roberson, and wife Mandy; and five great grandchildren, Shelby Callaway, Emma Callaway, Maria Callaway, Bailyn Roberson, and Mattie Roberson. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Rodney Roberson. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, April 18, 2021, at the Washington First Baptist Church with Rev. W. C. Bentley, Dr. Phil Pilgrim, and Rev. Jeff Deaver officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. There will be a visitation beginning at 2:00pm Sunday at the church and will last until just before the service begins at 3:00pm. Active Pallbearers will be Lathan Roberson, Scotty Roberson, Tom Callaway, Josh Callaway, Gwen Roberson, and Miles Chafin. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. Hopkins Funeral Home is in charge.
