Garland W. Darracott

Mr. Garland Wingfield Darracott, 91, of Harper Rd. in Rayle, entered into rest Saturday, December 19, 2020, at his home.Mr. Darracott was born in Wilkes County on December 16, 1929, to the late Dillard and Mabel Crosby Darracott, and was the widower of the Dorothy Dooly Darracott.He worked for Hormel Foods as a supervisor for a number of years.He was a Mason, and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was also a member of the County Line Baptist Church.Mr. Darracott was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice D. Waters and LuNeal D. Wright; by two brothers, D.C. Darracott and Garnett Darracott; by his son, Robert Darracot; and by grandson Jackson Moore. He is survived by his two daughters, Suzanne D. Gatlin (Randy), of Griffin, and Dawn D. Moore, of Walhalla, SC; one step-son, Ricky Haralson (Tonya), of Rayle; one step-daughter, Sandy Moore, of Covington; and special friend, Ineata King, of Elberton; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Guynn, Joey Darracott, Steven Darracott, Parker Moore, Rachel Estes, Jay Gatlin, Sami Clark, Kara Haralson, Josh Moore, Kelli Moore; and by several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Graveside memorial services will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Darracott officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to County Line Baptist Church, c/o Midge Walker, 815 Walker Rd., Rayle, GA30660. Hopkins funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
