Franklin Glover Poss

Mr. Franklin Glover Poss, 88, of Walker Rd. in Rayle, entered into rest on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Mr. Poss was born in Washington to the late Mr. Millard Poss and Sallie Mae Sherrer Poss. He lived in Washington during his teenage years, then moved to Atlanta to work, and lived there until nearly two months ago. He was the husband of Sarah Schmidt Poss, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice S. Poss, and by their son, Timothy. Mr. Poss was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Shmidt Poss, of St. Petersburg, Fl.; two sisters, Katherine P. Shedd, of Rayle, and Peggy P. Walker, and husband Johnny, of Rayle; and one brother, Wayne Poss, also of Rayle. Memorial services will be 11:00 Wednesday morning, January 25, 2023, at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Bunch and Rev. Jim Newsome officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 until the start of the service at 11:00. At the close of the service, a U. S. Military Honors Team will provide taps and a flag-folding/presentation ceremony to honor Mr. Poss’ service to his country. Hopkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Franklin Glover Poss.
