Mr. Floyd Daniel “Danny” Blakey, 65, of Bradley Rd. in Tignall, entered into rest Wednesday morning, April 21, 2021, at his home. Mr. Blakey was born in Washington, and had lived in Wilkes County for all of his life. He was the son of the late John F. Blakey and Frances Echols Blakey, and was the husband of Valerie Bradley Blakey.He was a retired lab technician for Standard-Coosa-Thatcher, and last worked at Paper Pak for a number of years. Danny had a great love for softball, and enjoyed both hunting and drag racing.He was a member of the Tabor Baptist Church.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Ben Blakey and Mattie B. Blakey, and by his maternal grandparents, Cleve and Catherine Echols. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Bradley Blakey ,of Tignall; one daughter, Shanha McAvoy, of Tignall; two sons, Quinton Blakey, and wife Kim, of Lexington, and Shayne McAvoy, of Tignall; one brother, Randy Blakey, and wife Patty, of Valdosta; and two grandchildren, Za’Monta Davis and Scarlett McAvoy. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, April 25, 2021, at the Tabor Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Bowers officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Hopkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Barry Armour, Neil Wilson, Al Broome, David Slaton, Glen Echols, Larry Pullen. Chris Bradley, Willie Turner, and Henry Holsonback. Hopkins Funeral Home is in charge.
