Evelyn Young

Mrs. Evelyn Casteel Young, 91, of Washington, died September 20, 2011 in Wills Memorial Hospital.She was a native of Metasville, the daughter of the late Dr. Louis Riley and Lowe Wellmaker Casteel.Mrs. Young attended Young Harris College and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Georgia.For many years, she taught school in the Wilkes County Public School System.She was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie McGehee and Ruth Casteel Jones; and niece Marie Blanchard. Funeral services will be Friday, September 23rd at 2:00pm in Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Rayner officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Albert Young, Washington; nieces Elizabeth (Richard) West, Edison, Jan (Tony) Ma’luf, Winston Salem, N.C., Nida Sherrill, Cedartown and Celeste (Ernie) Taylor, Athens and nephew in law, Neal Blanchard. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at 1:00pm until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
