Mrs. Evelyn Moore Pierce born in Washington, Georgia, on May 30, 1919, and died at her residence in Taliaferro County on June 9, 2013.She was a homemaker and worked with her husband in the operation of a dairy and the raising of beef cattle.During WWII she operated the dairy by herself while her husband served in the Pacific.She loved her family and her church where she served as Sunday School Teacher for many years.She also loved to fish and watch the Atlanta Braves. She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence Edwards and Samuel Jackson Moore, her husband of 67 years, James C. Pierce, daughter, Bunny Pierce Stevens Wellmaker, great-great granddaughter, Abigale Booker and sister Mrs. Christine Moore Hopkins. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 2:00pm in Resthaven Cemetery with Rev. Larry Davison officiating.Shawn O’Kelley, Michael Stevens, Matthew Mullet, Brandon Josey, Paul Booker and Benny Mullet will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include one daughter and son in law, Nancy and Randy Young, of Washington; six grandchildren and their spouses, Sandy Beasley, of Athens, Ellen and Paul Booker, of Anderson, SC, Chuck and Rachel Stevens, of Louisville, Jeff and Genie Stevens, of Columbia, S.C., Lucy and Benny Mullet, of Winterville and Florence and Dennis Chafin, of Rayle; twelve great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
