Eugene Usher Allison Sept. 26, 1942 – Dec. 29, 2020 was born in Oliver, Georgia and was raised in Savannah, Georgia where he graduated with honors from Savannah High School. Gene went on to Vanderbilt University and was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity.He graduated with a degree in business and later received his MBA from Emory University. He had a long career with Rockwell Automation (formerly Dodge/Reliance Electric) spanning over 35 years that allowed him to travel, which was a passion of his.He became a pilot to expand on his travels.He later lived in Dusseldorf, Germany and then Shanghai, China where he was Product Manager and lived for several years.He moved to Washington Georgia upon retirement. Gene was known for his wonderful sense of humor and kind heart.He greatly enjoyed playing Bridge and continuing to learn languages and about various cultures.He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a member of Mensa International and of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Alice Allison; a son Charles Joseph Allison (Sarah Ziegler) of Decatur, Ga.; two daughters Anne Barnwell Dancoff (Kevin) of Atlanta, Ga and Mary Elizabeth Burdette (Bill) of Washington, Ga; granddaughter Mary Iris Allison of Decatur, Ga.; Brothers in law Richard McGavern of Winston-Salem, NC and Jimmy Brigham of Sylvania, Ga. ; step sister Carolyn Woods-Usher Oxenrider of Savannah, Ga. ; Cousin Rebecca Dugger Lee of Hendersonville, NC; nieces Penny Rabitsch, Tammy Semm, Sandy Martin, and Candice Markovic all of Sylvania, Ga.; nephew Sean McGavern of New Orleans, LA.; Mother in law Alice Marie Green of Washington, Ga. He was proceeded in death by his parents Joseph Hightower Allison and Corrine Elizabeth Rimes Allison of Savannah, Ga.; first wife Mary Leighton McGavern Allison of Washington, Ga.; and sister Alice Anita Brigham of Sylvania, Ga. Due to Covid –19, a celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date.
