Ethel Borders Harris

Dr. Ethel Borders Harris, 87, of Washington, died September 24, 2012 in Heritage Healthcare of Wilkes.A native of McDuffie County, she was the daughter of the late, Paul E. and Estelle Borders.Dr. Harris graduated from Tift College then earned her Masters at George Peabody College for Teachers and her Doctorate of Education from the University of Georgia.She taught school for forty years in Georgia, Kentucky and Alabama.She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the widow of Rev. J. Robert Harris. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 26th at 11:00am in Resthaven Cemetery.The family will receive friends in the cemetery immediately following the service. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews and a special caregiver, Euna Stripling. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the J. Robert Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o The Georgia Baptist Association, P.O. Box 776, Washington, Ga. 30673.
