Estelle J. Thurmond

Mrs. Estelle Johnson Thurmond, 92, of Washington, passed away Friday, June 06, 2014 at her home.A native of Elberton, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Ada Dunbar Johnson.Mrs. Thurmond and her late husband Clem “Red” Thurmond owned and operated Red’s Grill for many years. A graveside service will be Sunday, June 8th at 3:00pm in Danburg Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Albert Huyck officiating. Survivors include daughters and sons in law, Elaineand Travis Gibsonof Colbert, Jean Greenway, of Bloomsburg, PA, and Connie and Billy Wallace, of Washington; two sisters, Margaret Hall, of Elberton and Ruby Hammond, of Lavonia; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
